Instagram, the popular photo sharing iOS app announced this weekend at SXSW that an impressive Android version is in beta and will be released soon. Instagram lets users enhance their photos with filters, and similar to Twitter users can share with their friends, comment and follow others. The Android version is said to be fast, work great on large screens and can be shared on all major social media networks. The Instagram founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger attribute the dramatic growth to Apple naming Instagram the “2011 App of the Year“ and the popularity of the iPhone 4S. Since December Instagram has almost doubled it’s user base to 27 million downloads, and is now looking at Windows Phone 7 as another possible future platform. The anticipated release of the Instragram Android App will dramatically impact the future of how photos are shared on all mobile devices. Do you plan on downloading the new Instagram app?
